These audit interventions have achieved a 17% water reduction, 37% energy reduction and 19% carbon reduction
Improving Efficiency with a Water Focused Audit
At SaveMoneyCutCarbon our experience over the past decade has shown that water efficiency can have a big effect on annual water and energy bills. For instance, eco taps deliver water savings of typically between 50 – 70%, while ultra-low flow toilets can reduce water usage by 75%.
Here’s how we helped one of our customers, Beaconside Sports & Fitness Centre in Stafford reduce water costs.
Retrofit Solutions & Further Recommendations
David Ball, our technical lead on the Water Reduction Team visited Beaconside Sports & Fitness Centre to review where savings could be made on bills, energy and CO2.
While on site, David installed some retrofit products to immediately reduce water consumption on a selection of assets. These interventions included tap aerators throughout the washroom and kitchen facilities, and water displacement bags within the toilet cisterns. These simple retrofit solutions delivered an instant and tangible impact on water usage. Additionally, we found scope for significant savings with further upgrades.
The audit interventions have achieved a 17% water reduction, 37% energy reduction and 19% carbon reduction across the 45 assets upgraded.
Annual savings already achieved:
Bills: £2,131
Water: 1,514,180 Litres
Energy: 3,985 KWh
Carbon: 0.85 equivalent CO2 tonnes
Further Recommendations:
The water reduction team also identified more potential savings with further upgrades. Inefficient flow rates were found on all taps as well as on 20 showers. Some taps were leaking and two urinals were inefficient.
Beaconside could boost the initial savings to:
47% water reduction
49% energy reduction
49% carbon reduction.
Annual savings could be:
Bills: £22,019
Water: 3,565,080 litres
Energy: 58,462 kWh
Carbon: 11.86 equivalent CO2 tonnes
Payback: 6 months.
